Hollywood Studio Club, based on real events, is a serial narrative presented as a series of historical fiction novels. Each explores the staggering struggle of women in Hollywood, but at the heart of the story is the astounding connection of its two lead characters through time.

The Hollywood Studio Club, located at 1215 Lodi Place in Hollywood, became famous as a dormitory for young Hollywood actresses from 1916 through 1975, housing some 10,000 women during its 59-year existence.

At its inception, Mrs. Cecil B. DeMille and Mary Pickford were active in the club’s operations. Its residents included Ayn Rand, Maureen O’Sullivan, Marilyn Monroe, Sharon Tate, Rita Moreno, Kim Novak, Donna Reed, Barbara Eden, Sally Struthers, and many, many more.

From 1975 through 2012, the building was used as a dormitory for the YWCA Jobs Corps.With the support of the City of Los Angeles, it again reopened in November 2018 as a transitional residence for women, a ‘Bridge Home.’

Hollywood Studio Club reinvents the Docudrama genre with a multifaceted story structure that braids past and present in a single, unique location: Hollywood. This novelistic device allows for more profoundsocietal and behavioral comparisons and explorations, deeper human investigation, nuance, emotion, and a stylized dramatic mystery than the genre has traditionally seen.

Each novel explores the connection between two residents of the Hollywood Studio Club, Orisha Crone and Ms. Williams, as it unfolds over time and through shared circumstances.

While exploring a multitude of personal relationships that parallel one another across time, great emphasis is placed on sociopolitical events of the past and their impact on thought, behavior, and the perception of women in Hollywood.
